Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a BMT Oncology position at a Magnet, Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring chemotherapy certification and oncology experience for a night shift contract.
Details
- Works in a BMT Oncology unit within a short-term acute care hospital setting
- Magnet-designated and teaching hospital with Level I Trauma Center status
- Floating is required throughout the Oncology department as needed per shift — not always assigned to the same unit
- Patient-to-nurse ratio of 4:1 for all shifts
- Average daily census of 30 patients across 32 beds
- Procedures include autologous stem cell transplants and chemotherapy administration
- Charting is performed using Epic (experience required)
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- Every other weekend required
Requirements
- Active MO RN license or compact license valid in Missouri required at time of consideration
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, ONS/ONCC, and Chemotherapy Certification
- Must pass a Relias EKG exam; telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia management required
- Minimum 1 year of oncology/chemotherapy nursing experience required
- Proficiency in chemotherapy administration, accessing/managing ports, blood and blood product administration, central line blood draws, central line/implanted line care, PICC line care, IV insertion and maintenance, antibiotic and antiemetic administration, Foley catheter insertion/management, isolation precautions, and telemetry monitoring
- Epic EMR experience required
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
- RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO during the first week of orientation
- Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a travel nurse
- Travelers may work at BJC facilities for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
- Navy blue scrubs are required
- Parking passes are available for purchase through Public Safety; costs and garage locations vary by shift type
