MidCentral District Health Board is looking for Occupational Therapists to join our growing team.  We have full-time and part-time positions available.

As applications are received they will be reviewed and shortlisting may take place earlier than the advertised closing date. 

MidCentral requires ALL its employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (including the first booster vaccination). We will not accept applications that do not meet this criteria. 

MidCentral’s Occupational Therapy service is District wide professional service provided centrally from the base hospital in Palmerston North.  Health and disability support services are provided on an inpatient and community basis.  Small therapy teams provide assessment and intervention within outlying rural centres covering Levin and Horowhenua, and the Tararua district encompassing both Pahiatua and Dannevirke. Therapists work in areas of acute inpatient, ASU (Stroke Service) STAR (rehabilitation), OPAL (older people), Community and Community Rehabilitation

We have Occupational Therapy positions available in the following services;

  • The Older People’s Assessment and Liaison Community Service (OPAL CS) is a locality-based service that takes a preventative approach to care for our kaumtua by identifying early signs of frailty, and proactively managing frailty to minimise acute hospital presentations.
  • Rotational – opportunity for a New Graduate to experience practice in arrange of settings including acute and rehabilitation.
  • Community – providing occupational therapy assessment and interventions to clients in community settings at home to identify clients' needs and the solutions to address these needs.

·   Rehabilitation – providing quality occupational therapy assessment and interventions to clients in a rehabilitation ward ( STAR 2)

·  Post-Acute Community Rehabilitation (PACR) - several post-discharge programmes that focus on continuing rehabilitation in the community with a particular a focus on working with stroke patients post discharge.
