Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a pediatric oncology unit caring for patients from newborn to young adult, requiring current MD or compact RN license and specialized oncology training.
Responsibilities
- Work in a 20-bed pediatric hematology, oncology, and bone marrow transplant unit
- Patient population includes pediatric oncology and hematology patients from newborn through age 25
- Care includes solid tumors, leukemias, bone marrow transplants, infusion therapies, and clinical trial patients
- Rotating 12-hour shifts (7a-7p) with every other weekend required
- Unit may also care for general med-surg pediatric patients as needed
- No call required for travelers
- Uses Epic EMR (Beacon and Ambulatory modules)
- Responsibilities include administering chemotherapy and biotherapy, caring for hematology and oncology patients, and supporting bone marrow transplant procedures
- Will participate in care of patients enrolled in cancer clinical trials
- First time travelers are welcome to apply
- Orientation dates are available periodically
- Holiday coverage is required based on unit needs
- Allows local candidates at the same rate except for specified counties
- Scrub or dress code will be provided during orientation
Requirements
- Active MD or compact RN license
- BLS and PALS certifications required
- APHON chemotherapy/biotherapy provider course or certificate required
- Minimum 2 years of pediatric experience in IMC or PICU settings
- Experience working in a hospital with at least 500 beds is required
- Epic EMR experience preferred
